What we have found to be TRUE about bullying:
Research has shown that the "bully" and the "target" of bullying almost always suffer from the same underlying cause: personal insecurity (not knowing who they are, where they stand, what they stand for, or where they are going in life). The child (or adult!) who acts out as a bully reacts to that personal insecurity with anger, lashing out, and putting others down to make himself/herself feel better. The person who often becomes a target of bullying suffers from the same personal insecurity but reacts with fear.
At The Character Network, we address head-on the subject of bullying, but we also teach what we have come to call, "Positive Personal Vision," to replace personal insecurity. The symptoms of bullying and the tendency to be a target of bullying then begin to disappear as visualization and understanding of one's own future comes into clearer focus.
